First taste of cooked veg!

Daniel is taking to this like a natural! This afternoon we shared another pear – a shorter session this time, more like a snack. But this evening D had his first cooked vegetable, a few ‘trees’ of steamed broccoli, and he did fabulously – sucking, gnawing and chomping away and staying interested for at least as long as it took Jon and me to eat our meals – well over 20 minutes.

Seven minutes of video here, if you have the stamina for it!

I also offered a halved boiled new potato, but he got precisely nowhere with this as it was a bit overboiled and it just smushed up as soon as he touched it. He’s really good at picking up and grasping harder things, but soft potato was beyond him as yet.

Today’s poo was massive and very runny, but not unlike ones we’ve seen before and there was no discernible pear in it, so maybe he didn’t swallow as much as I thought yesterday. Any evidence of digested broccoli should be more obvious over the next day or so.

Having offered D food at two points today, I’m feeling fine about my decision to continue with BLW at 5-months. Daniel’s interest and ‘success’ makes me feel it’s the right way to go.

Oh, and last night – after weeks of night-feeding – he slept through from midnight to 7.30am! So maybe it only takes a few smidgens of pear to sustain a boy through the night!

About babyledweaningyork

Hi! I’m a second time mum embarking once again on Baby-led Weaning. A couple of years ago, I blogged about our experiences introducing our son Daniel to foods with a BLW approach. Now our little Daisy is here, I thought I'd keep a record of how it goes this time around - just for fun!
